Welcome to the Poole Yacht Racing Association ( PYRA ) Web Pages hosted by Parkstone Yacht Club.
Our goal is to provide you with useful information about PYRA so that if you are unaware of us you might consider joining us or if you are already a member then you will find useful information about past and future events and races.
Our objects are:-
“to promote, encourage, organise and coordinate racing for bona fide sailing yachts in association with the member yacht clubs based on Poole Harbour which sponsor it. (Currently these are Parkstone, Poole and Royal Motor Yacht Clubs).”
We put on a varied programme of races (see sailing programme) and social events.

Racing is divided into 3 classes
Class 1 IRC Currently Elan 31 to Humphreys 50 Custom
Class 2 IRC Currently Parker 285 to Contention 33
Class 3 Poole Harbour Handicap System (PHHS) Rating 0.867 and above Impala 28 to Hanse 370
Class 4 Poole Harbour Handicap System (PHHS) Rating 0.866 and below SHE 31B to Beneteau 285
Class 5 Multihulls (MOCRA)
Annual membership from as little as £27.50 with free PHHS Handicap Certificate (class 3 and 4 with first year discount, there is no charge for a PHHS certificate), for more information on PHHS see FAQ
