Strong winds from the SW resulted in Classes 1 and 2 abandoning their Friday night crossing to Guernsey while Class 3A whos start was on Saturday morning opted to go to Yarmouth.

Thanks to Deity for this report:-

After much debate mainly by Channel 37 entrants decided the thought of a race to Guernsey with the adverse tides did not appeal. An alternative race to Cherbourg was also rejected due to the inclement weather and forecast. All class 3 entrants decided a race to Yarmouth was more appealing than wasting the weekend in the garden. After a postsponent a gate start was set up at East Hook which allowed Vertigo to join us from Swanage and Resume to rise from their bunks and catch us up , well almost. The spinnaker was let out the bag for a while but prudently taken down in the blustery SW wind. The race to Yarmouth was soon over in Force 5-6 conditions with a favourable tide finishing at Yarmouth in about Two hours allowing retiring to the Pub for an early lunch. The sponsor Christine Simpson in Eye to Eye also sailed to Yarmouth as Class 1 and 2 had decided not to sail cross Channel. This enabled  sponsored drinks to be provided in the Kings Head but we were unable to consume the full allowance. Christine continued to Bembridge to Enjoy the rest of the weekend and most of the fleet scattered around the Solent to do cruising before returning to Poole in less than nice conditions. Deity spent Monday watching Cowes week big boats rounding the windward mark of Lymington and decided their Spinnaker drill was little better than the PYRA fleet but nevertheless interesting.
