From the Committee Boat it was a bizarre affair,

starting off No 4 buoy to keep well clear of the Dart nationals, besieged with radio traffic, line entries, boats already entered 'just checking', one of your erstwhile crew members hoping to discuss flag etiquette for class 3 divisions as we went into the start sequence, all capped by an apprentice lawyer on one of PYRA's smaller boats issuing a legal challenge in defence of his excess crew numbers.

Not interested, Fun Race .. Here we go ...Short beat to Bar Buoy and bear away to Jenkins, except the dying wind had backed turning it into a tight fetch unnoticed by my over zealous crew keen to shock and awe me with their spinnaker hoist hard on the wind! I'm assured photos will be arriving for the website soon.

The wind died with 25 boats scattered across the bay in what had laughingly become a beat leaving our carefully trained rib crews zigzagging all over the shop trying to make some sort of finishing order out of the chaos. Then, guess what, the radio traffic started again ..' You've got it wrong, I was in front of him'!

I know the results aren't totally accurate. For instance Uproar recorded themselves as behind Zorra and ahead of Eye2Eye! It's impossible to make sense of the order given the scatter of boats. The alternative in the circumstances was to abandon the race but it was a Fun Race so I hope you all took it in that spirit.

See you in Lymington.
