PHHS Passage Series A
IRC and Mocra Passage Series A
My thanks to Mark Carey from Zorrra for the following account and photos (webmaster).
Firestarter ignited
the start of the PYRA Beaulieu race but,
unfortunately, was unable to
join the fleet for what was to prove an enjoyable weekend of
sailing.
The wind for that first race was
on our tails from the start and, for those of us
with boats suited to light airs, it was great to
look back at so many PYRA spinnakers flying as we set off. It wasn't quite so great to
watch all those PYRA spinnakers coming back at us out of the distance as the
wind ran out at Hurst and the fleet contracted. Those who drifted the best were able to get to the bar first and
perhaps enjoyed lunch on a beautiful sunny afternoon at Buckler's
Hard (before the bar staff informed us that the kitchens
were closed!)
though, after a look at the tariff, many may have
opted enjoy their personal supplies anyway!
Luckily Tapper Funeral Services were a most generous sponsor and got the
drink flowing freely at the Rendezvous where the barbeque menu was also much
improved since lunch. The only rain of
the weekend didn't dampen what was a beautiful evening. The clouds
brought wind for the next
day to give us all a good beat back to Poole.
Those who had the good fortune
not to finish as strongly as others were greeted across the finish line
by a school
of dolphins playing amongst
our bow waves, removing any niggling frustrations from the race just gone and
leaving us to reflect on yet another great weekend away doing what we do best in
gorgeous weather, hoping for more to come.
