PYRA's double handed two race mini series was raced in sunshine on a
pleasant sunny day with a good NW force 4. The sunshine brought a plethora of
line entries to bolster the fleets.
The first course was an upwind downwind olympic style course, for all but
the multi hulls, was from a start in the vicinity of Vinyl Solutions beating to
Poole Head buoy, with a downwind leg to Coleman Marine buoy and a beat back
through the line for a second lap.
The dozen or so boats in the class 1 and 2 combined start were all
remarkably on the pace for a double handed start resembling a competitive fully
crewed start. Spinakers abounded, with pretty efficient drops too, on the down
wind legs.
The 2nd race was a triangle/sausage olympic style course once the RO had
satisfied herself about the kite surfers playing in the vicinity of the start
line! A beat to Poole Head with a reach to East Hook gybe mark for a downwind
leg to Coleman Marine, followed by a beat through the line to Poole Head and a
downwind leg to Coleman Marine buoy, before a beat to the finish, was the course
for all as the multi hulls had gone home.
Excellent competitive racing for all and thanks to the RMYC committee boat.
On the fleets return to the harbour an air display greeted us off Sandbanks
Beach to welcome us home.
