The Marketing committee has met recently and the items covered were the class logo, the publicity brochure, the appointment of a publicity officer and the reformation of the Cowes division.

The logo and the class brochure will be finalized before the end of the month.  Eddie Mays, who is a Hamble based reporter/photographer, has been appointed as the Class Publicity Officer.  He will be working on general information dissemination and assisting Divisional Publicity Officers.  If you are interested in this position, then volunteer.  The Class Committee have agreed to assist with the reformation of the Cowes Division following considerable interest from local sailors.  We will be holding an open meeting in the Island Sailing Club on the 12th April at 4pm to discuss the proposal further.

The Centenary Committee met recently.  MOS Fitzgerald now represents Hamble division.  Ted Roose, from the Marketing Committee joins the group to ensure good liaison.  The committee has decided that the principle races and regatta to celebrate the centenary will now be held in and around the central Solent and Cowes.  The problems of organising it in the western Solent as originally proposed where more difficult than first imagined.

All the other celebration plans are on course but we are still in negotiation with sponsors of the event.  An early conclusion to these discussions will allow us to firm up several projects.

All divisions have a boat check list to assist you and your officers to ensure your boat is within the rules.  The use of this is not compulsory but is to be regarded as a useful guide especially to new owners.  The list will be in the Handbook and you can take it off www.xonedesign.org.uk.  The committee is hoping that ALL boats that go to the Cowes Regatta will have a completed check list logged with the class secretary thus reducing the need for spot checks at Cowes.
