Fireball fleet of Parkstone Yacht Club 2008 The Fireball fleet at Parkstone YC is a well established and active class offering a warm welcome to sailors at all levels, great racing, coaching, and a good variety of social events. Whether you’re a relative novice or an accomplished helm or crew, Fireball is an exhilarating boat to sail at any level – but don’t take our word for it, check out this video. Come and try for yourself. But first, a little background.
The Fireball is the only three-sail, trapeze monohull class at Parkstone. Its light weight and low sheet loads make it ideal for helms and crews of all sizes and for those moving up from youth classes. On a national and international scale, the Fireball class goes from strength to strength with 176 boats competing in recent World Championships at Teignmouth.
Jeremy & Abbey Hurst upwind in heavy weather Fireballs are a delight to sail, with boats available at surprisingly reasonable prices. Starting at around £650 will get you an all-wood boat ideal for great club racing. For a boat capable of taking trophies at open meetings, around £4,000 will get you a “pre-owned” all glass/Kevlar. If you’re considering making the move to Fireballs, speak to one of fleet for advice.
Better still, why not try a Try-Sail.
To experience the Fireball class for yourself, why not come and try-sail ‘Revivaball’? Our club-boat, its role is to give prospective helms and crews the chance to experience the Fireball for real.
