Well - It really feels like the "off season". Hardly seen any boats on the water for the past couple of weeks, not even the mad Laser boys. I seem to remember something about the 1st Friday of the month meeting at the club for a beer. OR was it the last Friday of the month....

0930. Wow - look at meter - 20knots, look out on beautiful morning - good breeze. Lets go.
Then the fun began. 20 knots turned quickly into 30 ish knots. First I capsize well before the start, then Chris follows fairly quickly. Stewart (with plucky Jade and tinsle) manages the some of the beat then turns back. Duncan rounds the windward mark and hoists but decides discretion is the better part and withdraws gracefully.
So that was "the boys" The men all survived and had a great race. R&P were tussling with Steve and Kate all the way round 2 rounds closely followed by Denis and Tom then I think young Tiernan - first time out in his new boat. Well done to the 4 finishers. Medals all round and Steve and Kate for cementing his new class captain position!
1 trashed enterprise against the marina wall, 1 abandoned Laser - helm exhausted and 1 big boat lost its rig - Put it in perspective!?

Sunny, gentle breeze, 2 race day and a reasonable 9 boat turnout. Race 1, 2 lap windward/leeward was marred by Barfleur carving up the fleet and creating massive wind shadow. Race 2 was a mini tour to Brownsea light then back via Ellis Jones and 26. 3 boats chose the Brownsea shore after the light and by Ellis Jones were a race ahead of the rest. Nice day for a sail!

Cold, sunny, F2/3 and thankfully a single race. Sort of offset windward-leeward race was a bit processional but only one boat entering into the true spirit by flying tinsle from the masthead. Well done 371 Jade. Lovely carvery afterwards. And well done to Steve Tiernan for showing us the way round.
