Club Watch is the volunteer night security service
for the Club. Members participate in a rota to provide a presence at an
otherwise deserted yacht club. Individuals or teams of two are equipped
with all necessary security and safety equipment and clothing and patrol
the yard and the Haven during the evening and night. During the season
qualified crews use the Nelsons or "Parkstone Pearl" to patrol our
moorings as well.
The Club Watch service co-operates closely with the Dorset Police Marine Section, Poole Harbourwatch and the Harbour Commissioners
to review harbour crime levels and co-ordinate crime prevention and
detection. This has been very successful in recent months and crime in
the Parkstone YC area has been very low indeed.
We do of course rely on having sufficient members on the rota that
no-one has to sacrifice too many evenings. Duty Club Watch volunteers
are in constant contact with the Police and Harbour Control and their
safety is our first concern.
If you are not on the Club Watch rota and wish to join in, or simply learn more about it, please contact Ray Mayberry (Tel: 07780 686960).
Please do advise us if you change your email address or 'phone number.
It is also most helpful if you indicate to the office that you wish to
join the Club Watch on the annual Combined Application Form.
