Have you just finished your navigation course and want to try out your skills, or perhaps you fancy the delights of cruiser racing. Perhaps you have had enough of being dunked in the water and needing a wet suit, be warned cruiser racing isn't always warm and dry!

Skippers are frequently looking for crews.

If you wish to crew please send an email to the secretary secretary@pyra.org.uk with information you wish put on this page. Information will be cut and pasted from the body of the email and displayed for 2 months. Resend your email again if you require it re-published.

PYRA do not warrant the competence of skippers or seaworthiness of their yachts.

Crews should satisfy themselves of the competence of skippers and seaworthiness of their yachts

I have recently moved to bournemouth and am looking to get involved in some racing.  I have been a member of BMYC (Brighton Marina) for the last 5 seasons and have raced on various yachts, including last season on a 1/4 tonner and the one before on a bavaria match.  I have my day skipper qual but not sure how relevant that is for racing!  Am competent in most roles (but have limited experience at helm and on foredeck), mostly last year I was a gennie trimmer.  I mainly have done club racing, but also have done some regattas and round the island a few times.

Please could you let me know if anyone needs crew? - I am available most weekends and monday evenings and would love to find a regular boat to crew on but happy to fill in where needed until that happens.

My mobile is 07767 356832 or I can be contacted on  mainzoe@hotmail.co.uk

Many thanks

Zoe

Renewed 25th May 2010

I’m keen to do some racing or passages and get involved with Poole Harbour sailing. I’ve sailed all my life with varying levels of intensity. I’m firstly a cruising yachtsman and owned a Sigma 33 25 years ago and have done charters since and took my Yachtmaster last year. I’ve done occasional yacht racing; a little on Sigmas, a couple of Sunsail corporate regattas and flotilla races. I also had a Hobie Cat at Rockley and have sailed a variety of other dinghies, mainly lasers and dabbled in asymmetrics (only in warm water!).

Kind regards

1st July

I am just completing my RYA Day skipper theory course, in advance of my Practical I am looking for experience as part of a crew.

I have very limited direct practical experience, but at 28, I am fit, healthy and eager. Always had power boats as a child. I can turn my hand to anything quickly, very professional by nature and do well under pressure. Would be available weekends primarily and some evenings.

Look forward to hearing from you

I have just moved from the North of Scotland to Bornemouth and I am looking to get involved in yacht cruising/racing.  I used sail Enterprises before graduating to a 25 foot cruiser.  This was all done around the West Coast and Isles of Scotland in the late 1970s/early 1980s.  I am just about to take a Day Skipper course and on completion would welcome any opportunity to crew on a yacht.  Please give me a call if you can offer any crewing opportunity.

Many Thanks.

"I crewed last year on cruisers and dinghy's from mid season onwards. I am now fully settled in Poole after retiring last summer and would like to crew regularly this season. I have sailed on different classes of yachts and have undertaken RORC races in the past. I am reasonably fit, adaptable and easy going and I like to think reliable.

My conatct details are Tel. Home 01202 759668 Mob. 07803148164 and e-mail d.ceaton@btinternet.com"

In 2008 I crewed in cruiser races in the harbour and am looking to gain additional experience. I'm fairly new to sailing and have just qualified as a Day Skipper.

Please give me a call if I can help.

Penny Mitchell - crew

I've just moved to Poole from London and am keen to get out on the water sailing, meet new people and learn new racing skills. My experience is mostly cruising rather than racing. I have plenty of humour and common sense rather than tons of experience so if you would like another pair of hands I’m very willing! I have spent about twenty weeks over about twenty years enjoying cruising the Solent, Channel and Irish Sea. I have competent crew RYA.

I'm interested in gaining experience on a variety of different boats and meeting loads of nice people. I've been racing now for a few years from Royal Lymington YC and Parkstone YC but I got started out in Oz working on ex-Whitbread racing yachts around the Whitsunday Islands (cooking, cleaning and deck-hand). I've got my Australian Yachting Federation Competent Crew (but I'm English) and I've been sailing and racing on a Sweden 38, Sigma 32, Benetau First 31.7, a thing called a Young 7.4 (bit like a J24), RS400 and Windsurfing. I'm pretty competent but would just like to gain more experience and have fun. I've also done a few channel crossings and round the Island.

Give me a call on 07967 025 306 or e-mail me on zimzallabim@lycos.co.uk or grab me in the bar!

Cheers

Gary Palmer
