Cruisers racing in Poole Harbour İMark Hamman

We welcome entries from any boat owners in the Harbour, particularly those from other Clubs. We also help organise Open Regattas, Weekend Racing through Poole Yacht Racing Association, plus the Poole Spring and Winter Series. Contact the Club Office for more details about series racing but also watch the Regattas web page for notices of forthcoming regattas.

2010

Class designations:

Class 1 - IRC - (2008 classes 1 and 2)  Class Flag Numeral Pendant No 1

Class 2 - PHHS - (2008 classes 3 and 4) Class Flag Numeral Pendant No 2

Again this year, after a successful  introduction last season:

Class 3 - Gentleman's Class  ( PHHS without spinnaker or cruising chute) - Class Flag Numeral Pendant No 3

The Gentleman's class has been introduced to encourage owners of cruisers to dip their toe into racing and enjoy an excuse for an evening sail with a purpose and without all the hassle of spinnakers (or cruising chutes) and ten crew on the rail. Class 3 will start last so that the chaos at the start will have eased but courses will be set with the intention of finishing at a sensible time. This class should also appeal to short crewed boats and those no longer eager for the cut and thrust of classes 1 and 2.

PHHS is Poole Harbour Handicap System and Ian Jessopp is Parkstone Yacht Club's handicapper (Poole674297). A handicap form can be downloaded at this link  Please do not be put off by the form - talk to Ian Jessop or Giles Vigar. Some under water dimensions / details are required so the winter layup is a good time to obtain them. Manufacturer's details may be acceptable on an interim basis.  If your yacht is of a well known design, Ian may well have the required data to hand.

The entry fee  for owners who have not entered any of the cruiser racing classes in the last 4 years will be given a 50% discount.

A Notice of Race  and Entry Form may be downloaded by following this link

A request from Race Management - We are short of skilled Race Officers. If there is anyone out there interested in training up for Race Officer duties Peter Biggs would be extremely pleased to hear from you. Please phone Peter on Poole748691. Most volunteers do between 3 and 4 duties a season which can be set against safety boat duties.
