The Laser Youth Fleet at PYC supports both the 4.7 rig and Radial rigs. The UKLA advise that to be competitive the sailor needs to be between 52kg- 65kg to sail a 4.7 rig. However most new members to the fleet start in a 4.7 regardless of weight, to get used to sailing the boat They then transfer to the radial once they have grown in strength, weight and maturity as well as being familiar with the boat. Racing is held along side the other youth classes on a Sunday morning and on Friday evening in the summer months. Training is held at the start of the season and during the May ½ term holiday, taken usually by top class Laser sailors. The aim of the Parkstone fleet is to provide good quality racing and to ensure that the sailors have fun and enjoying being on the water!
