Poole Swanage Hop
A lovely sunny day with extremely light & variable winds at the planned start time meant the race officer had to delay the start until the breeze settled down. A course was set with a windward leg to BP Wytch Farm, a planned run back in to Vinyl solutions and back out to BP again before a beat into Swanage. shortly after the start the wind filled in from the South West, turning the first two legs into a reach, followed by a beat into Swanage bay, which saw many boats overpressed as the wind increased to around 20 knots.
Most boats anchored or picked up Swanage SC Moorings and Ian Hayes in his RIB Bloodshot, and the Swanage YC Rib did an excellent job of ferrying crews ashore for a spot of Swanage hospitality.
For the retun race, our hosts at Swanage Sailing Club layed a windward mark for us in the bay, which we rounded prior to a run down to Coleman Marine, before heading back in to the Swash & finish line. The sun still shone & the wind stayed at around 15 - 20 knots - a perfect day for a sail.
A special vote of thanks goes to Ian Hayes for acting as race officer & taxi service, and to Swanage YC.
