What sailing experience do you need to join our fleet?

The main purpose of our fleet is to promote ladies’ dinghy sailing at PYC and increase the number of ladies helming dinghies. We welcome all standards of sailors from beginners to experienced racers. We aim to give everyone the opportunity to develop their skills, gain confidence and, most importantly have lots of fun with a friendly, supportive group.

When do we meet?

Every Thursday evening in the sailing season, rigged and ready on the slipway at 6.15pm.

What boats do we sail?

We all sail single-handed boats; many of us own our own Lasers, Fusions or Toppers. Some of us hire club boats.

What do we do?

Thanks to all the help and encouragement we get from our friendly volunteer trainers we have an active, diverse Thursday programme, so there is something for everyone:

• Techniques training from beginners to racing
• Cruising around the harbour: circumnavigating Brownsea and seal spotting
• After sailing Fizz, Fish and Chip Supper
• Fun racing
• Apres-sailing socials in the bar 
• “Big Sailing Suppers” - Fun racing or cruising followed by supper 
• Regatta and Cream Tea
• Winter talks including, sailing ‘rules of the road’, weather and tides

I have had such a wonderful first year in the fleet. I have absolutely loved returning to sailing and as a huge bonus have meet so many like minded but varied women who are such fun and have made me laugh so much, challenged me and supported me and who I am so happy to call friends! 

I can barely stand up let alone walk, but my bruises are testament of an epic day on the water! Thank you to everyone who helped me going in, going out, and everything else in between. And I am so so sorry to the laser and rib i ran into (while at a stop) ?? I can't wait to start next season and learn everything about sailing!
